Not rumors, not “Israeli propaganda,” not the “colonial narrative” — but explicit UN findings of rape, gang rape, genital mutilation, and the systematic sexual abuse of hostages.
This was the reality of the October 7, 2023 pogrom, and the months that followed.What survivors, released hostages, and forensic evidence had already testified to, is now written in black and white. Even the United Nations — that temple of euphemism, relativism, and diplomatic cowardice — could no longer ignore it. Hamas is now officially ranked among the most grotesque perpetrators of war crimes.And yet. While this damning report circulates, the Western media universe drowns in cowardly silence. The same newspapers that sob over every alleged “colonial crime” by Israel suddenly lose their pens when confronted with gang rape and sexualized torture committed by their beloved “resistance movement.” The same columnists who romanticize the “anger of Palestinian youth” fall mute when Israeli women are raped, mutilated, and enslaved.The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Even as the UN defines Hamas as a terror group wielding sexual violence as a tactical weapon of genocidal intent, European politicians work overtime to reward them with a state of their own. The logic is obscene: commit mass rape, mutilate women, torture hostages — and in return, we will give you a flag and diplomatic recognition.And what about the #MeToo movement? Where are the Hollywood actresses, the academics, the progressive icons who claimed they were standing up for women everywhere? Where are the furious open letters, the hashtags, the marches? Nowhere. The silence is deafening.
Because in this case, the victims are Jewish women. Their screams don’t fit the progressive narrative, their blood is ideologically inconvenient. And so #MeToo — that supposedly global moral crusade — simply looks the other way. Their hypocrisy is not only grotesque, it is complicity.It almost deserves a twisted form of admiration: the cynicism of it all. Rape? Collateral damage. Genital mutilation? Doesn’t fit the “intersectional” storyline, so we delete it. Sexualized torture of hostages? Best not to mention it, because then Hamas can no longer be sold as romantic “freedom fighters.”Anyone who still advocates the recognition of a Palestinian state today does so knowingly. This is no longer naivety — it is ideological malice. They know Hamas raped, mutilated, and tortured. They know it was systematic and deliberate. De gruwel die men liever verzwijgt👉🏼 English versionOp 14 augustus 2025 verscheen eindelijk datgene wat al veel te lang onuitgesproken bleef: een officieel VN-rapport dat Hamas op de zwarte lijst van seksuele misdaden in conflictsituaties plaatst. Niet zomaar beschuldigingen, niet zomaar geruchten — maar expliciete vaststellingen van verkrachtingen, groepsverkrachtingen, genitale verminkingen en het systematisch seksueel misbruiken van gijzelaars.
Dit gebeurde tijdens en na de pogrom van 7 oktober 2023 .Wat al die maanden door slachtoffers, vrijgelaten gijzelaars en forensisch onderzoek werd aangetoond, staat nu zwart op wit. Het is geen Israëlische propaganda, geen “narratief” dat de “koloniale onderdrukker” in de schoenen van de “bevrijdingsbeweging” schuift. Het is de Verenigde Naties zelf — nota bene een bastion van diplomatieke voorzichtigheid en eindeloze relativiteit — die Hamas voortaan in één adem noemt met de meest gruwelijke daders van oorlogsmisdaden.En toch. Terwijl dit onweerlegbare document circuleert, krioelt de westerse mediawereld van relativeringen, “nuances” en gênante stiltes. Diezelfde kranten die pagina’s vol tranen produceren over vermeend “koloniaal geweld” van Israël, knipperen geen seconde als de barbaarsheid van Hamas tot in detail wordt blootgelegd. Dezelfde redacties die tranentrekkende opiniestukken publiceren over de “wrok van de Palestijnse jeugd”, krijgen geen woord over hun lippen wanneer de brute realiteit van groepsverkrachting, seksuele marteling en genitale verminking op tafel ligt.De hypocrisie is stuitend. Terwijl de VN Hamas eindelijk classificeert als wat het is — een terreurorganisatie die seksueel geweld inzet als tactisch wapen met genocidale intentie — blijven Europese politici ijverig werken aan de erkenning van een Palestijnse staat. Alsof de beloning voor massaverkrachting, marteling en pogroms een vlag en een zetel in de Algemene Vergadering moet zijn. Alsof “diplomatie” betekent dat men monsters legitimiteit schenkt, zolang ze zich maar islamitisch “verzet” noemen.En waar is de #MeToo-beweging? Waar zijn de feministische iconen, de celebrities, de academici die doorgaans geen seconde zwijgen wanneer een Hollywood-producer zich misdraagt? Waar zijn de open brieven, de protestmarsen, de solidariteitsstatements? Nergens. De stilte van de zelfverklaarde vrouwenrechtenbeweging is oorverdovend. Het bloed van Israëlische vrouwen vloeit niet door de juiste aderen, hun pijn past niet in het intersectionele sprookje — dus wordt ze genegeerd. De #MeToo-beweging die de wereld zogezegd wakker schudde, blijkt plots doof, blind en verlamd wanneer de daders Hamas heten en de slachtoffers Joods zijn. Hun hypocrisie is niet alleen misselijkmakend, ze is medeplichtig.Men moet het cynisme bijna bewonderen. Verkrachting? Ach, dat is collateral damage. Genitale verminking? But what VTM NIEUWS—yet another propaganda arm of the heavily subsidized DPG Media—had the audacity to publish under the headline “Israeli far-right minister threatens ‘Palestinian Mandela’ in his cell” is not only tasteless, it is downright obscene.Nelson Mandela was a fighter for equal rights who ultimately chose reconciliation, democracy, and the renunciation of violence. Marwan Barghouti, by contrast, is no freedom hero but a convicted mass murderer. He is serving five life sentences plus forty years for direct responsibility in the murder of innocent civilians during the Second Intifada. Under his leadership, attacks were carried out that killed Israeli children, women, the elderly—and even a Greek Orthodox monk. That is not a “Mandela moment,” that is bloody terrorism, plain and simple.That a channel like VTM NIEUWS, paid for by advertising and by your taxes, dares to suggest that this man can in any way be compared to Nelson Mandela is a journalistic crime. This is not some innocent metaphor; it is deliberate moral poison: an attempt to glorify terrorism and romanticize the murder of Jews. It is yet another grotesque example of the shameless Islamophilia that has infected the Flemish left-wing media industry.DPG Media, the self-styled guardians of “objective information,” are in reality peddling ideological filth into the public consciousness. Where is the nuance? Where is the simple mention that Barghouti received five life sentences for murder? Where is the note that he was the head of Fatah’s armed wing that systematically targeted civilians? Nowhere. Because at VTM NIEUWS, facts don’t matter—only cheap framing that elevates a convicted terrorist to martyr status while reducing Israeli politicians to caricatures.The word “cynical” is far too mild. This is hypocrisy turned into pornography. While Belgian journalists weep crocodile tears over “democratic values” and the “rule of law,” in the same breath they pump out journalistic pulp that reduces the victims of Barghouti’s terror to footnotes. Their blood apparently counts for less, because it doesn’t fit the ideological fairytale.And people wonder why citizens trust the media less and less. Perhaps because they see newsrooms like VTM’s behaving as PR agencies for terrorist apologists. Perhaps because they are sick and tired of paying for disinformation disguised as journalism. Perhaps because they have finally realized that DPG Media is not the watchdog of democracy, but a tame sheep following the wolves.Let there be no mistake: Marwan Barghouti is not Nelson Mandela. He is not a freedom fighter, not an icon of justice. He is a man with blood on his hands, convicted by a court of law, responsible for the irreparable suffering of dozens of families. Anyone who portrays him otherwise is not reporting the news but whitewashing terror. And that VTM NIEUWS leads the way in doing so is a disgrace that deserves its own chapter in the history books, under the title: “How the Flemish media sold their soul.”

Marwan Barghouti daarentegen is geen held van vrijheid, maar een veroordeelde massamoordenaar. Hij zit in Israëlische gevangenis vast met vijf levenslange gevangenisstraffen plus veertig jaar wegens directe verantwoordelijkheid voor moorden op onschuldige burgers tijdens de Tweede Intifada. Onder zijn leiding werden aanslagen gepleegd waarbij Israëlische kinderen, vrouwen, ouderen en zelfs een Griekse orthodoxe monnik omkwamen. Dat is geen “Mandela-moment”, dat is bloederig terrorisme, punt.Dat een zender als VTM NIEUWS, betaald door reclame én door uw belastinggeld, durft suggereren dat deze man ook maar in de verste verte te vergelijken valt met Nelson Mandela, is een journalistieke misdaad. Het is geen onschuldige metafoor, het is doelbewust moreel gif: een poging om terrorisme te verheerlijken en Jodenmoord te romantiseren. Het is de zoveelste illustratie van de schaamteloze islamofilie die de Vlaamse linkse media-industrie teistert.DPG Media, dat zijn de zelfverklaarde hoeders van “objectieve informatie”, maar ondertussen pompen ze schaamteloos hun ideologische vuiligheid in het collectieve bewustzijn. Waar blijft de nuance? Waar blijft de simpele vermelding dat Barghouti vijf keer levenslang kreeg wegens moord? Waar blijft de vermelding dat hij hoofdverantwoordelijk was voor de gewapende tak van Fatah die systematisch burgers viseerde? Nee, bij VTM NIEUWS geen feiten, geen context, enkel goedkope framing die een veroordeelde terrorist verheft tot martelaar en Israëlische politici reduceert tot karikaturen.Het woord “cynisch” is niet eens sterk genoeg. Dit is pornografie van de hypocrisie. Terwijl Belgische journalisten krokodillentranen huilen over “democratische waarden” en “de rechtsstaat”, spuwen ze in hetzelfde adem journalistieke pulp die slachtoffers van Barghouti’s terreur herleidt tot voetnoten. Hun bloed is blijkbaar minder waard omdat het niet in hun ideologische plaatje past.En men vraagt zich af waarom burgers steeds minder vertrouwen hebben in de media. Misschien omdat ze zien dat nieuwsredacties zoals die van VTM zich gedragen als PR-afdelingen van terreurverheerlijkers. Misschien omdat men het spuugzat is om te betalen voor desinformatie verpakt als journalistiek. Misschien omdat men eindelijk doorheeft dat DPG Media geen waakhond van de democratie is, maar een mak schaap dat meeloopt met de wolven.Laat één ding duidelijk zijn: Marwan Barghouti is geen Nelson Mandela. Hij is geen vrijheidsstrijder, geen icoon van gerechtigheid. Hij is een man met bloed aan zijn handen, veroordeeld door een rechtbank, verantwoordelijk voor het onherstelbare leed van tientallen families. Wie hem anders portretteert, doet niet aan verslaggeving, maar aan terreur-apologie. En dat VTM NIEUWS daarin vooroploopt, is een schande die in de geschiedenisboeken mag worden bijgeschreven onder de titel: “Hoe de Vlaamse media hun ziel verkochten.”

That is the favourite distraction manoeuvre: shout “psychiatry” and everyone looks away from the real cause. Because yes — there are thousands of Belgians with mental health problems. They don’t grab a knife and butcher an OCMW worker. What happened here is not a treatment problem. It’s an import problem. An Islamic violence problem. And a political problem that leads directly back to Ghent’s green coalition.Under the watch of Mathias De Clercq (Open VLD, conveniently absent for months) and above all First Alderman Hafsa-El Bazioui (Groen), Ghent has been deliberately and systematically importing and cultivating electoral Muslim capital. How? Through a dirty quid pro quo nobody dares to name: subsidies, favours and political preferential treatment in exchange for guaranteed votes.Just look at the pattern. For years, the city has poured millions of euros into “diversity projects,” “cultural bridges,” and “community building” that in reality function as extensions of mosques, Islamic associations, and clientelist networks. No critical audits, no hard conditions, no enforcement — as long as the target demographic votes for the right party. The fact that, in the long term, this creates a ticking time bomb is well understood in City Hall. But as long as it pays off at the ballot box, the party goes on.And then Nieuw Gent: a district where parallel societies flourish under the banner of “superdiversity.” Where police, social workers and residents have long known there are zones in which the Flemish rule of law exists only on paper. And where a Syrian newcomer with a background nobody wants to check — because that would be “discriminatory” — remains on the OCMW’s radar as just another client. Until he picks up a knife.The city’s response? PR fluff about protocols, mourning ceremonies under the City Pavilion, and of course the obligatory “mental health problems” fairytale to avoid anyone asking the real question: how many of these cases have we imported ourselves?Hafsa El-Bazioui bears central responsibility. Not only as first alderman, but as the face of the pampering politics that has hollowed out Ghent to the core. She sells “participation” and “international solidarity” as core values, while in practice keeping alive a system that subsidises Islamist structures, dodges critical oversight, and ignores security risks in order not to lose votes.This is not an accident. This is policy. This is the inevitable result of a government that values electoral gain over citizen safety. A government that would rather smother the truth than admit that its migration and subsidy policies directly contribute to the import of violence, extremism and social decay.The murder in Nieuw Gent is not the first warning sign, and it will not be the last. Dat is de favoriete afleidingsmanoeuvre: roep “psychiatrie” en iedereen kijkt weg van de échte oorzaak. Want ja — er zijn duizenden Vlamingen met psychische problemen. Die gaan niet met een mes een OCMW-medewerker afslachten. Wat hier speelde, is geen behandelprobleem. Het is een importprobleem. Een islamitisch geweldsprobleem. En een politiek probleem dat rechtstreeks terugleidt naar de groene coalitie in Gent.Onder het bestuur van Mathias De Clercq (Open VLD, al maanden opvallend afwezig) en bovenal eerste schepen Hafsa El-Bazioui (Groen) heeft Gent zich ontwikkeld tot een stad die structureel en doelbewust electoraal moslimkapitaal binnenhaalt en onderhoudt. Hoe? Door een smerige quid pro quo die niemand hardop wil benoemen: subsidies, gunsten en politieke voorkeursbehandeling in ruil voor gegarandeerde stemmen.Kijk naar het patroon. Jarenlang is de stad overspoeld met miljoenen euro’s aan subsidies voor “diversiteitsprojecten”, “culturele bruggen” en “gemeenschapsopbouw” die in de praktijk fungeren als verlengstuk van moskeeën, islamitische verenigingen en cliëntelistische netwerken. Geen kritische audit, geen harde voorwaarden, geen handhaving — zolang de doelgroep maar trouw stemt op de juiste partij. Dat dit bestuurlijk op lange termijn een tikkende tijdbom is, weten ze in het stadhuis allang. Maar zolang het stembuswinst oplevert, gaat het feest door.En dan Nieuw Gent: een wijk waar parallelle samenlevingen bloeien onder het mom van “superdiversiteit”. Waar politie, hulpverlening en buurtbewoners allang weten dat er zones zijn waar de Vlaamse rechtsstaat alleen nog op papier bestaat. En waar een Syrische nieuwkomer met een achtergrond die men niet wíl controleren — want dat is “discriminerend” — gewoon op de radar van het OCMW blijft als reguliere cliënt. Tot hij een mes pakt.De reactie van het bestuur? PR-praat over protocollen, rouwmomenten onder de Stadshal, en natuurlijk het obligate “psychische problemen”-sprookje om te vermijden dat iemand de vraag stelt: hoeveel van deze gevallen hebben wij zelf geïmporteerd?Hafsa El-Bazioui draagt hierin een centrale verantwoordelijkheid. Niet alleen als eerste schepen, maar als boegbeeld van de pamperpolitiek die Gent tot op het bot heeft uitgehold. Zij verkoopt “participatie” en “internationale solidariteit” als kernwaarden, terwijl ze in de praktijk een systeem draaiende houdt dat islamistische structuren subsidieert, kritische controle uit de weg gaat, en veiligheidsrisico’s negeert om geen stemmen te verliezen.Dit is geen ongeluk. Today, Sammy Mahdi, Conner Rousseau, Maxime Prévot, and their entourage once again press into the Belgian parliament to discuss Gaza. They speak of “genocide” as if it were a moral axiom, as if their presence in that committee room could alter the course of history. Their voices tremble with urgency, their faces set in the rigid mask of moral gravity.But as they now parade their moral thresholds before the cameras, one question hangs like a shadow over every sentence they utter: Where were they on October 7, 2023?That day was no abstract conflict. It was a meticulously planned and cold-bloodedly executed massacre: 1,200 people murdered, families wiped out in their own homes, babies beheaded, women raped in front of their children, bodies mutilated, burned, trampled. 260 young people slaughtered at a music festival. More than 250 hostages — including children and the elderly — dragged to Gaza as spoils of war. The largest mass killing of Jews since the Holocaust, broadcast live by the perpetrators themselves as a trophy.And the Belgian parliament? No emergency session. No call for sanctions against Hamas or its financiers. No threat of a government crisis. No condemnation that came anywhere close to today’s supposed urgency. There was silence. Calculated, deliberate silence. A silence that spoke more about their priorities than a thousand speeches ever could.That silence has not disappeared today. It is merely covered in a fresh layer of words about Gaza, words perfectly aligned with the electoral strategy of parties who know exactly who their audience is and what it wants to hear. There is no universal moral compass here, only a radar turning with the wind of the electorate. Moral principles are not a foundation — they are a currency, valuable only so long as they deliver political returns.Today, they will speak as if their outrage is timeless, as if their moral thresholds are unshakable, regardless of who the victim is. But the facts of October 7 stand like a gravestone on their political résumé. Every word they utter now is measured against it. And against that backdrop, it all sounds hollow, transparent, and ruthlessly hypocritical.What they are doing today is not policy, not justice, not the defense of human rights. It is a carefully choreographed performance for the cameras, in which they play the starring roles and the victims — both in Gaza and on October 7 — are nothing more than props in their never-ending election campaign. The Legal Moment: 14/15 May 1948On 14 May 1948, the British Mandate for Palestine came to an end. Under the Mandate, confirmed by the League of Nations in 1922, there was one internationally recognized territory with one internationally recognized sovereign purpose: the Jewish national home.At the moment of independence, the borders of the new state are those of the Mandate territory as they existed on that date. Nee, Van Ranst voert een lasercorrecte kruistocht, gewapend met halve waarheden, goedkope retoriek en een wereldbeeld dat zo plat is als een antivax-meme uit 2021.Zijn stelling? Israël pleegt genocide. Zijn bewijs? Een stortvloed aan gecureerde statistieken, losse VN-verwijzingen, en een dosis opzichtige verontwaardiging die enkel nog overtroffen wordt door zijn eigen zelfgenoegzaamheid. Geen plaats voor rouw, verontwaardiging of zelfs maar basale empathie voor Joodse slachtoffers.Misschien is het een tandheelkundig probleem. Misschien is zijn morele kompas net zo rot als zijn gebit.In de plaats daarvan krijgen we een herkauwde tirade over Israël als structureel kwaadaardige entiteit. Een staat die volgens Van Ranst bestaat om te doden, te onderdrukken en te vernietigen — zonder context, zonder geschiedenis, zonder vijanden. Deze goedkope provocaties zijn geen analyse, maar ideologische gifpijlen die elke vorm van politiek debat vergiftigen. En dat van een man die zich ooit profileerde als verdediger van de rede en wetenschap.Wat drijft hem? Is het ijdelheid? De zucht naar applaus van de geëngageerde cafékliek op Twitter? Of een pathologische behoefte om op elk maatschappelijk dossier zijn morele vinger op te steken als de Belgische Greta Thunberg van de geopolitiek?Want laten we eerlijk zijn: Van Ranst is geen Midden-Oostenexpert. Hij is geen jurist in internationaal recht. Hij is geen diplomaat. Hij is een viroloog die zijn vakgebied ingeruild heeft voor een meningenpodium waarop hij zich wentelt in morele superioriteit en een eigen universum bouwt van goed en kwaad – met zichzelf als priester en beul tegelijk.Zijn stilzwijgen over het gruwelijke antisemitisme dat vandaag opnieuw door Europa waart, is oorverdovend. Wat wij onverdedigbaar vinden, is dat intellectuelen als Van Ranst hun morele kapitaal gebruiken om haat tegen de enige Joodse staat ter wereld salonfähig te maken. En wat wij werkelijk cynisch vinden, is dat iemand die zelf ooit de verdediging van wetenschap claimde, nu verworden is tot een ideologische stormram van ongenuanceerde verontwaardiging.⸻Het is niet Israël dat hier gras aan het maaien is, Marc.

Cue the activist influencers posting filtered selfies from Berlin or Brooklyn, moaning about “starvation,” “genocide,” and “war crimes” — all while sipping oat-milk lattes and marching under the banner of Hamas-approved talking points.And of course, cue the deafening silence — the same silence that has echoed every single day since October 7, 2023 — about one simple, gut-punching reality:
There are still Israeli hostages rotting in Hamas tunnels.Babies. Women. Grandparents. Teenagers. The raped, the beaten, the tortured, the caged. Held underground like animals by the same charming fellows whose charter calls for the annihilation of Jews. But tell me, oh enlightened protester of the West, have you ever paused your chanting to consider the most obvious question of all?HAVE YOU TRIED RELEASING THE HOSTAGES?No? Funny, isn’t it?You demand a ceasefire. You cry genocide. You weaponize the vocabulary of human rights, sprinkle your hashtags with “liberation,” and protest the horrors of war — while conveniently skipping over the war crime that started it all. Or is it just too awkward to mention? Does your solidarity not extend to Jewish babies raped and dragged into Gaza? Are Israeli women not quite human enough for your moral outrage carousel?Let’s be brutally clear:
• There is no “genocide” happening in Gaza.
• There is no “resistance” in raping concertgoers and burning babies.
• There is no “colonialism” in defending your citizens from decapitation and captivity.And there is no peace until the hostages come home.But that’s not what the slogans say, is it? No, the slogans are simple. Lazy. Morally inverted. “From the river to the sea,” you chant, oblivious to the genocidal intent behind the rhyme. “Stop the occupation,” you yell, while occupying Western campuses with banners soaked in Hamas propaganda. “Ceasefire now,” you scream — to protect the very terrorists who engineered the bloodbath that started this war.If you’re so desperate for the bombings to stop, then here’s an idea no one on your side dares whisper:
Force Hamas to release the hostages.
Not in exchange for a ceasefire. Not for a PR stunt. Not for more Qatari cash or UN sympathy. Just release them. Unconditionally. Now.Because let’s state what your placards won’t:
